Rafael Langoni is a Brazilian composer, arranger, producer, and pianist. He is currently a Music Producer at Rede Globo and is responsible for the soundtracks of several of the network’s TV shows. Rafael has collaborated with many renowned contemporary performers, such as Milton Nascimento, Tiago Iorc, Anavitória, and Caroline Dale. He is a Latin Grammy winner, and was nominated for the Shell award for best soundtrack of the theatre production O Camareiro. Rafael has vast experience in video game music and is the founder of Moonsailor, a video game audio collective.

Born into a musical family in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael began studying music in his childhood. He discovered improvisation, developed perfect pitch at a young age and went on to study classical piano. As a young adult, Rafael played in several local bands, taking part in the popular music scene in Teresopolis and the surrounding area. He also developed an interest in soundtracks at this time and at 16, made his first soundtrack for a videogame.

Rafael holds a bachelor’s degree in musical composition from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). During his undergraduate degree, he was awarded a scholarship to study abroad at the West Virginia University (WVU). After completing his undergraduate course, Rafael was invited to go back to WVU as an MFA student in Musical Composition, working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. During his Master’s degree, Rafael was invited to represent the university as a fellow composer at the Seasons Music Festival Academy, in Yakima, WA.

Since 2011 Rafael has been collaborating on productions by Globo TV writing music, arrangements, orchestrations and performing. In 2016, he was hired as music producer and became responsible for the score and music production of several TV shows. Part of the score for the TV series Éramos Seis, a collaboration with Victor Pozas, was recorded in London, at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

Rafael collaborates often with popular music artists on arrangements and production. He has worked with Milton Nascimento on Mais Bonito Não Há (2017) and the new versions of Drão (2020) and Cais (2021). Rafael also made string arrangements for two albums by the Brazillian duo Anavitória (Anavitória, 2016; and O Tempo é Agora, 2018, winner of the 2019 Latin Grammy for Best Contemporary Pop Album) and scored their feature film Ana e Vitória, directed by Matheus Souza. He also partnered up with singer Tiago Iorc for several songs, among them Desconstrução (2019), winner of the 2019 Latin Grammy for Song in the Portuguese Language.
